Global Workshops

Opportunities for advanced language learners and their families

As students move into higher levels of proficiency in their target language, they are ready to put their language skills and cultural competency to use outside the classroom. The most powerful way to personalize their second language learning is to immerse themselves in the cultures of their target language and connect with children their age in those cultures.

To meet the needs of these students, The Language Link has wonderful opportunities to bring youth farther into the global arena and make personal connections to students their age in other parts of the world, using their skills to build cross cultural communication and global competency.

Global Workshops for advanced students

The Language Link Global Workshop Program represents the next step in learning about language and culture. Students communicate with peers across the world to exchange cultural informationa about one anothe and make a difference through environmental projects!

This wonderful program is designed to fully integrate the language and communication skills of advanced language students, their increasing knowledge of the world around them, and their growing need for independence and agency in their own lives.

Global Workshops for Middle School Students: GUATEMALA

This is for middle school students. Middle schoolers roll up their sleeves in environmental projects at home. They document their work in Spanish and through digital story telling. As they exchange their stories online with study partners in Guatemala who are documenting their own project, they also learn about the culture of their new friends. During mid-winter break, students travel (with a parent) to meet their study partners and see the project they learned about through their exchange.
